The park also offers an extensive concert line-up from a variety of artists, as well as seasonal festivals.
Nature enthusiasts can get their fill of the great outdoors in the nearby Okefenokee Swamp, Reed Bingham State Park or the Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area. Kayaking, canoeing, fishing and boating prospects abound, as well as plenty of opportunities to come face-to-face with many of the animal species unique to South Georgia.
In a city dubbed "Title Town USA" by ESPN, it's no surprise that there are plenty of places to indulge in a favorite sport. The area boasts several golf courses, including Kinderlou Forest, one of the newest stops on the PGA's Nationwide Tour and designed by Davis Love, III. Hunting, sport clay shooting, biking, swimming and much more can also be found.
Plenty of shopping exists in the Valdosta area, suitable for most any taste. From traditional malls and outlets to boutique and one-of-a-kind shops, many hours can be spent perusing the retail opportunities. Nearby Quitman offers up a fabulous selection of antique stores.
Valdosta also boasts a diverse cultural arts selection, from the Valdosta Symphony to the Valdosta Theater Guild and the annual Peach State Summer Theater program. The Annette Howell Turner Center for the Arts and the Valdosta State University Fine Arts department deliver a variety of artistic performances and shows.
Downtown Valdosta is a hidden treasure which encompasses the Fairview Historic District, the Lowndes County Historical Society & Museum and a number of shops, eateries and eclectic nightclubs, all set against an idyllic backdrop, perfect for strolling along an afternoon or jazzing up your evening.
