Best BBQ Restaurants in Valdosta, GA - BBQ Bucket List

The Ultimate Valdosta BBQ Bucket List

Lip-smacking goodness waits for you. You can’t call yourself a true BBQ enthusiast until you’ve checked off all the saucy places on this list. Roll up your sleeves, grab some extra napkins and get ready to experience the very best we have to offer.

Not fancy, just fabulous. When you walk up to Autry's Bar-B-Q on South Patterson Street, you notice the menu board isn’t fancy. In fact, a few of their newer items are still on hand-written pieces of colored paper. That’s okay. They keep the focus on the food, which is exactly where you want it to be. Order a sandwich, a combo plate or go ahead and get a to-go order by the pound or the gallon.

Just like Grandma’s. Grab a to-go order from Sam's Carry Out BBQ and you’ll be tempted to look behind the counter for your grandmother. Well, that is if she was the quintessential Southern cook that served up amazing filled-with-love dishes. Stop by the East Hill Avenue location and taste for yourself why they won Best of South Georgia from the Valdosta Daily Times in 2018.

Soul food meets BBQ. Why just have a pulled pork sandwich when you can take it way over the top at Big Nick's BBQ & Soul Food on Baytree Road. Summon your inner George Jefferson and order The Weezy, a towering pulled pork sandwich topped with a big ol’ scoop of Momma Louise’s macaroni and cheese. Pace yourself and prepare to loosen your belt.

Down on the farm. The buffet menu changes each day at Raisin’ Cane Country Kitchen but if you head down Newsome Road on Mondays and Fridays, the reward is some outstanding ‘que. On Mondays, the mac-n-cheese, peas, beans and mashed potatoes are joined by BBQ pork. On Fridays, you can pair sides with BBQ chicken. Either way, it’s a delicious break from your shopping at their country store, which features Georgia-grown items.

All the goodness you can fit on a plate. Can’t decide between St. Louis spare ribs or baby back ribs? At Smok'n Pig BBQ on North Valdosta Road, the choice is easy - both. And if you can’t decide among beef brisket, smoked chicken, ribs or pork, again, the answer is easy - all the above. The generous combo and trio platters will have you looking for a friend to share with.

Have you seen the starters? Also located on North Valdosta Road, Woodstack BBQ Tavern will have you flabbergasted before you ever think about the plates and sandwiches. Their starters menu includes pork rinds with BBQ dust and pepper jelly, black bean salsa with BBQ tortilla chips and smoked and fried wings with Alabama white sauce. They’ll even amp up your salad with smoked chicken or pork.

Working for the weekend. You’ll stare at the calendar waiting for Saturday to arrive just so you can head to Country Love Soul Food & BBQ in Hahira. Only open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays - and only serving BBQ on Saturdays - it is worth the wait to fill your plate with BBQ ribs and chicken plus all the sides you crave. On the off chance you’ve had enough BBQ, the fried chicken is a savory substitute. And do not skip the collard greens.

Gittyap for some good ‘que. The Western-themed Cowboys Firepit Grill & Bar serves amazing slow-smoked barbeque, delicious steaks and fresh seafood. This Lake Park favorite has kids nights on Thursdays, an open patio for drinks for the adults and plenty of parking for buses, trucks and RVs so bring all of your friends.

We dare you to drive by without drooling. The smell of amazing smoked meat hits your nose long before you turn into the parking lot at Mr. Bobbyque Rib Shack. The home of the $5 BBQ plate is also great for your wallet as you can fill up on mouthwatering ribs, chicken and sides for a great price.

Small restaurant packs big flavor. Look for the American flag sign and the inviting front porch and you will find some of the best pit barbeque in South Georgia. Georgeos BBQ & Catering serves delectable ribs, chicken and pork only 4 days a week. We highly recommend the smoked turkey wings and oxtails that are only offered on special days.

Pitmasters who truly know BBQ. No barbeque list is complete without Sonny’s BBQ. Pitmasters smoke meats and sides for long hours over oak wood to create a plentiful menu that has guests returning again and again. Try the jalapeno hot links for a taste of heaven for your taste buds.

By now, your veins are running with barbecue sauce and your face has a permanent smile. Your Valdosta BBQ bucket list is complete. For more ways to enjoy your visit, follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.
